The white and green flowers of hellebores. Heavy frost last night, followed by sunshine now. Blackcaps have returned to the garden for the first time in a while. The log man delivered a lorryload of logs three doors away - 24 wheelbarrow loads to retrieve.

Bird mattresses

These two pictures of bullrushes show that the birds, especially the goldfinches, are beginning to collect their nest material. One was taken in the sun, the other in the morning mist.
