 Monday 26th March - butterfly time - this is a tortoiseshell, but the yellow brimstone butterflies are the most common at the moment.

A little lace-cap primula amongst miniature daffodils

Celandines

Once the garden was a sea of lesser celandines (above picture) to the disdain of hostile former neighbours. We have lost the neighbours (the current ones are delightful) and kept the celandines to places where they are not obtrusive, like this fern corner.

 You can even buy posh celandines - this one has dark, bronze leaves and is called 'Brazen Hussy'. It multiplies in a friendly (not aggressive) way.

Hyacinth by the Bucket

Remember those overpoweringly smelly hyacinths you buy for the lounge? When they are over, plant them out for a perennial show. These have been here for five years.

Little Plum and Robin

The robins have now paired up ...

 and the flowering plum is making a show

Pastel glow

Pulmonaria, "lungwort" after its use in early medicine, with its spotty leaves mixes well with these anemones.

Ornamental plum

Just emerging. This has produced a crop of tiny plums once in 25 years, so don't bank on eating the fruit.

Red corydalis

A change from the normal blue form, this is corydalis solida, 'Beth Evans'. There are also varieties which are more brick red. We also have the white corydalis, not yet in flower.

Date wanted for lady blackcap

WANTED for serious relationship - a mate for breeding. No timewasters.
Note: lady blackcaps have brown caps. No male blackcap has been spotted yet.
